AQUAREX™ 20” Whole House Sediment Filter Kit 50 Micron
Description
When "Salt-Free" Is the Strategy, Not a Shortcut
Many homeowners pursue salt-free conditioning out of convenience—no regeneration cycles, no salt deliveries, no discharge concerns. But while FILTERSORB® SP3 media can prevent scale formation, it does not remove hardness minerals from water. That matters when your goals include better soap performance, softer skin, or reduced mineral accumulation in pipes. ScaleProTec™ Ultra 64K is designed for households that prioritize appliance protection and low-maintenance operation over traditional softening benefits. When those priorities align, performance is reliable.
The three-stage configuration begins with the AQUAREX™ sediment filter, which captures rust particles, sand, and pipe debris before they foul downstream equipment. This protection is critical for well-maintained municipal systems still burdened with aging infrastructure. Next, INDOCARB® E124 catalytic carbon reduces chlorine, chloramines, disinfection byproducts, and taste-altering compounds while also addressing residual organic matter. Unlike standard activated carbon, E124 media performs catalytically, regenerating its active sites during contact without chemical backwashing. Then, the salt-free descaler treats hardness minerals through Template Assisted Crystallization (TAC), altering calcium and magnesium into microscopic crystals that pass through plumbing without forming brittle scale layers. Finally, the AquaVRay™ UV system delivers UV-C disinfection to address microbial concerns without adding disinfectant residuals. Every stage is engineered in the USA and supplied with NSF-certified components. If your home currently uses whole house water conditioning but struggles with inconsistent chlorine reduction or recurring scale symptoms, this integrated approach delivers more durable control.
Why "64K" Is Not Always Enough—And When It Is
Capacity ratings reflect the system's ability to treat water over time before media replacement becomes necessary. With ScaleProTec™ Ultra 64K, the "64K" references the combined hardness-handling design of the FILTERSORB® SP3 media bed. However, unlike ion exchange softening, TAC media does not "exhaust" in the traditional sense. Instead, performance depends on maintaining consistent contact time and preventing fouling from iron, sediment, or chlorine. That's why pretreatment is fundamental.
The sediment filter prevents particle buildup within the carbon and descaler tanks. The catalytic carbon stage removes chlorine, which can otherwise degrade TAC media prematurely. The UV lamp remains effective because the water entering it is already clarified and chemically balanced. The bundle is sized for households with 2-4 occupants, approximately 2,200 square feet, and standard municipal water pressure (50–70 PSI). If your home regularly exceeds three bathrooms in simultaneous use or if you're managing fluctuating supply pressure, you may need to evaluate whether the 27 gpm rated flow at 15 psi pressure drop aligns with peak demand periods. Undersizing leads to restricted flow during morning or evening surges. Oversizing wastes space and increases initial cost without adding meaningful performance. The system works best when matched to real usage patterns, not assumptions. To ensure proper pairing between system design and your household's actual demand, consider reviewing salt-free water conditioners for residential homes and comparing sizing across product specifications.
Pure Water Living: The Lifestyle That Follows Good Engineering
ScaleProTec™ Ultra 64K eliminates the guesswork that typically surrounds city water treatment. Chlorine no longer clings to skin after showers. Coffee brews without chemical aftertaste. Appliances maintain efficiency because mineral crystals do not bond to heating elements. Pipes remain clear because scale formation is preempted at the molecular level. And because the system operates without regeneration cycles, there are no early morning brine discharges or salt storage requirements. It's the kind of quiet reliability that feels invisible until you visit a home without it.
Maintenance consists of annual UV lamp replacement, sediment cartridge changes based on water clarity, and occasional carbon media inspection. The salt-free descaler requires no backwashing or chemical regeneration. The Clack WS1 valve on the carbon tank supports bypass operation during service or inspection. Installation follows standard point-of-entry plumbing, with ¾" or 1" NPT connections and a dedicated ¾" drain line for the carbon stage. The UV system requires 110V power via the included plug-in transformer. Every component is field-serviceable with standard tools. Pure Water. Pure Trust.
